WINCHESTER — Preparing for surgery can be stressful for patients at the best of times — let alone during a pandemic.

The Winchester District Memorial Hospital team is helping to make things a little easier.

A new pre-operative surgery video commissioned by the hospital details how to prepare for surgery and what a patient can expect on the day of the procedure. Dr. Patricia Moussette, Dr. Michelle Davey, and Registered Nurse Joanne Vankessel review what needs to be done leading up to surgery, take patients on a tour of the operating room, and share details on anesthetic options.

In the video, Dr. Patricia Moussette provides valuable information to patients preparing for surgery.

“We wanted to create a video that covers many of the general questions a patient and their family may have,” explains Dr. Moussette. “From there, we can use our individual time with each patient to focus on their specific needs for their specific procedure.  Being prepared helps to ensure the very best surgical outcome.”

In addition, the surgery section of the WDMH website has been updated with additional information. There are sections that talk about what happens before and after surgery, as well as information about various procedures.
