‘ROPE’ apprehends wanted pair in N. Dundas, one with alleged purple fentanyl

NORTH DUNDAS — The SD&G OPP and members of the ‘ROPE’ unit — Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement — have located and arrested two North Dundas residents who were wanted in connection with several offences.

The detachment reports apprehending Justin M. Smith, 34, and Melissa Bowman, 39, shortly before 11 a.m. on Nov. 2.

Bowman — whose charges include failing to comply with conditions of a probation order —  was released to appear Nov. 12 in Cornwall court.

Smith — whose charges include two counts of failing to comply with release order — was held in custody pending a Cornwall bail hearing. Police say he was found to have a quantity of suspected purple fentanyl and is charged with possession of a controlled substance in that matter.

Bowman also faces charges of: theft of credit card; theft under $5,000; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; and use, deals, acts on forged document, according to the detachment.

Abduction charge for Chesterville parent

NORTH DUNDAS — A 37-year-old Chesterville man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged abduction of his and his girlfriend’s child.

SD&G OPP officers located the father and child at his residence, after responding Nov. 4 to a domestic situation shortly after 6 a.m. The child was not harmed, says the detachment, which reports that the accused entered his ex’s residence and removed the child.

The man was arrested and charged with: abduction – where no custody order; unlawfully in dwelling house; and three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a probation order.

He was held in custody pending a Nov. 5 bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Choking and strangling charges in domestic case

SOUTH STORMONT — A 40-year-old South Stormont man is due in Cornwall court Dec. 22 after assaulting his girlfriend several times — actions that included choking and strangling the victim — according to the SD&G OPP.

Officers responded shortly after 10 p.m. to the reported domestic situation on Oct. 30, arresting the accused.

Released to appear in court next month, he’s charged under the Criminal Code with assault cause bodily harm — choke, suffocate or strangle; overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle; plus two counts of assault.

Charged with impaired in South Dundas

SOUTH DUNDAS — An Oct. 31 traffic complaint on Fifth Street, Morrisburg, led to the arrest of a man on impaired driving charges.

The SD&G OPP says the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol by investigating officers responding to complaint shortly before 6 p.m.

The detachment reports that Bobby Leroux, 36, of North Stormont was released to appear Dec. 15 in Cornwall court.

Charged with impaired in South Stormont

SOUTH STORMONT — A Nov. 1 traffic stop led to impaired driving charges against a woman driving on Abigail Crescent.

The SD&G OPP says the motorist was found to be under the influence of alcohol by investigating officers that stopped her around 1 p.m.

The detachment reports that Orleans resident Alexa Richer, 20, was released to appear Dec. 10 in Cornwall court.

Threats in North Dundas domestic incident

NORTH DUNDAS — A 57-year-old South Dundas man is accused of threatening his ex-wife with bodily harm plus two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order, following a reported Oct. 27 domestic situation that drew the SD&G OPP to a North Dundas address.

Officers attended the scene shortly after 6 p.m.

The accused was arrested and held in custody pending an Oct. 28 court hearing.

Domestic assault in South Stormont

SOUTH STORMONT — A 58-year-old Cornwall man is accused of assaulting his wife plus two counts of mischief related to damaging her property. The charges follow a reported Oct. 27 domestic situation that drew the SD&G OPP to a South Stormont address.

Officers attended the scene shortly before noon.

The accused was arrested and released to appear Dec.22 in Cornwall court.

Impaired charges after Oct. 27 crash on Highway 401

SOUTH STORMONT — An Embrun woman faces alcohol-impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle collision Oct. 27 on Highway 401 in South Stormont.

SD&G OPP officers responded to the crash around 10:30.

The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol, according to the detachment, which reports the arrest of Chantal Cyr, 22, of Embrun.

The accused was released to appear Dec. 15 in Cornwall court.

Charged with impaired in South Stormont

SOUTH STORMONT — The SD&G OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 138, South Stormont, leading to alcohol-impaired driving charges for the involved motorist.

The detachment says the driver left the location but was later located by officers, shortly after 1 a.m. on Oct. 29.

Breanna Peters, 26, of Orleans, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested, according to the detachment.

Also facing a charge of failing to report an accident, Peters was released to appear Dec. 15 in Cornwall court.
