Pipe-wielding trucker in South Dundas road rage incident, police seek assistance

SOUTH DUNDAS — Wielding a metal pipe, a trucker got out of his tractor trailer and smashed off another motorist’s truck mirror during a confrontation at the eastbound Highway 401 Enroute Service Centre in South Dundas last month.

Police are seeking any witnesses to the Oct. 20 “road rage” incident that occurred shortly after midnight — or anyone with vehicle camera who may have been at the scene between 12 and 12:30 a.m.

The male suspect wore a dark face covering. He’s described as caucasian with medium build.

The victim was uninjured.

Drugs seized following dispute

NORTH DUNDAS —  A dispute at a Limerick Road residence drew SD&G OPP officers to the address, where they confronted a man sitting in his vehicle.

Further investigation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine and a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles), according to the detachment, which reports the arrest of 21-year-old Austin Espinoza of South Stormont.

Espinoza is charged with possession of a controlled substance, and being the occupant of a vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon.

The accused was released to appear Dec. 31 in Cornwall court.

Dangerous driving, flight from police

SOUTH DUNDAS — A 49-year-old Cardinal man faces a number of charges after a vehicle was stolen Nov. 15 from outside a County Rd. 2 store. The victim had gone inside and upon return found the vehicle missing shortly before 7 a.m.

The alleged thief drove recklessly, refusing to pull over for SD&G OPP officers who had located him shortly after making off with the vehicle. Ultimately, however, the driver complied with their demand to stop and was arrested.

Police also say they seized a quantity of suspected cocaine from the suspect.

The detachment reports that Lorne Shannon, 49, of Cardinal is charged with: Dangerous operation; Flight from peace officer; Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada; Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine; and Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused was released to appear Dec. 31 in Cornwall court.

No injuries occurred to the accused or officers during the incident.
