EMBRUN — When 70-year-old Brockville resident Brenda Lacombe recently visited her daughter in Embrun, they decided to go out to Etienne Brule Brewery for lunch. It was worth it… actually, it was worth $6,524!
Brenda purchased a Catch the Ace ticket at the Brewery and on Sunday, Nov. 22, her name was drawn from the thousands of tickets. Brenda won the weekly prize and chose envelope number 50 for the jackpot. The envelope revealed the ace of diamonds, which means the jackpot this Sunday, Nov. 29, will be worth over $101,000, “an incredible amount for the small Township of Russell,” say organizers at the Kin Club of Russell.
The Club has already raised over $130,000, all of which will be divided amongst the six charities of Breast Cancer Action, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Osgoode Senior Care Centre, Russell Minor Hockey Association, Valoris Foundation and the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation. Tickets can be purchased weekly for $5 each at local retailers in the area or online at www.kinclubofrussell.ca
As for Brenda, Club plans to personally deliver her cheque this week.
