Domestic incidents, impaired charges

SOUTH DUNDAS — The SD&G OPP received another call Dec. 7 at about 2 p.m. from South Dundas involving an adult female who allegedly assaulted her common-law partner. Subsequently, she was arrested, charged with assault, and is currently scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 12, 2021.

Mutual assaults in domestic call

SOUTH GLENGARRY — A domestic incident involving a married couple brought the SD&G OPP to a residence in South Glengarry township, Dec. 4th at 2 p.m. Both parties, a 53-year-old female and a 59-year-old male, had assaulted one another. Both were arrested and charged with assault. They’re scheduled to appear Jan. 12 in court.

Impaired charges fleeing, crashing

NORTH STORMONT — A RIDE check by provincial police at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4th, resulted in the arrest of local man.

Police say they apprehended 41-year-old Robert Desormeaux after he approached the provincial police in his vehicle, fled the scene, then crashed his vehicle at the intersection of County Road 15 and County Road 9. He sustained minor injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital with minor injuries. 

He’s been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, careless driving, and driving while under suspension. His court date will be January 14th, 2021.

Impaired charges for South Dundas resident

SOUTH GLENGARRY — A traffic stop conducted by provincial police in South Glengarry on Dec. 9th at 5 p.m. resulted in the arrest of Marc-Andre Godin, 31, from South Dundas. Initial roadside testing indicated he was under the influence of alcohol. Consequently, he was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams, according to the SD&G OPP. Godin is scheduled to appear in court in Alexandria on Jan. 6th, 2021. 

Destruction of property

SOUTH DUNDAS — Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 29, SD&G OPP officers answered a call about a domestic situation in progress. Upon arrival, police discovered that an adult male had assaulted his wife and caused damage to the victim’s property.

The 30-year-old male from Smiths Falls is accused of assault, and destruction of property. He is scheduled to appear in Cornwall’s Court of Justice on Feb. 9, 2021.

Stunt driver went 137 km/h in 80 km/h zone

SD&G — The SD&G OPP conducted speed measuring enforcement on Nov. 28th and intercepted a vehicle travelling 137km/h in an 80km/h zone. The driver, a 29-year-old male, was charged with stunt driving and driving with no insurance. His permit was also seized for seven days and his vehicle impounded.
