CORNWALL — A curve for Morrisburg’s roundabout and streetscape project: All bids received for the work were tossed as too expensive by the Council of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) today.
The Counties government had budgeted $4.25 million to complete the improvement, only to see the lowest tender clock in at a whopping $6.1 million.
Council agreed to reject the bids and instead work with the Municipality of South Dundas and consultants to reduce the scope of the project to better fit the budget.
While the roundabout will remain, the politicians at both municipal levels hope to find savings in the streetscaping component of the project. A construction start is still planned for this year.
