Trucker killed on Highway 401 in South Dundas

SOUTH DUNDAS — A transport truck driver is dead following a crash with another truck east of Morrisburg.

A section of Highway 401 westbound remains closed in the aftermath of the deadly collision between the two westbound tractor trailers. One of the rigs ran into the other from behind around 3 p.m., according to the SD&G OPP, which continues to investigate what happened.

The driver of the rear truck, a 46-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The SD&G OPP have identified him as The male driver Dilpreet Singh Rai of Brampton. The other driver was not injured.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) are assisting the local detachment. A section of Highway 401 is closed to traffic with indicated detours in place, closed at MM 758 – Upper Canada Road, westbound. The SD&G OPP can’t say when it will re-open at this point.
