Community Food Share expanding into Williamsburg, closing Crysler

WILLIAMSBURG — Community Food Share clients in Williamsburg area will soon have access to a new satellite outlet in their community.

Food hampers are set to be distributed through Community Food Share’s new location at 4324 Villa Drive on the first Thursday of the month, between 1 and 3 p.m.  Drivers and volunteers are in place to begin deliveries in early February.

Clients in the Williamsburg area who require food are asked to call 613-543–0065 by 8 p.m. on Wednesday to reserve their order.

The local food bank organization says that the service will also be available to Williamsburg area residents who may not have previously used the services of Community Food Share (CFS) due to transportation difficulties.  Those in need of CFS services are urged to not hesitate and to call for assistance.  And if you know someone who might need CFS services, says the organization, please share this information with them.

In a related move, CFS has announced the phasing out of the Crysler Food Cupboard.  Statistics have shown that clients in that area choose to place their food order for pick up at the Winchester location.

Residents living in North Stormont who require food assistance are invited to call 613-774-0188 to make an appointment to pick up five to seven days of healthy, nutritious food in Winchester (open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).

As an alternative, residents who are unable to travel to the Winchester location may pick up their food order at the Finch satellite location instead. The Chalmers United Church site is open every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for food hamper pick up.  Call 613-774-0188 by Wednesday at 8 p.m. to make an appointment to pick up food orders in Finch.

Due to COVID-19, the organization still operates exclusively on a curbside pick-up basis.
