EMBRUN — Provincial Police from the Russell County detachment report that they responded to 322 calls for service between March 15th to March 21st. Most notable of which were two separate single-vehicle collisions.

The first took place on March 18th shortly before 1:30 AM on Russland Road in Russell Township. There were no injuries. Police utilized a testing device on the driver of the vehicle before transporting him to the detachment for further testing. As a result, 38-year-old Alex Dufresne from Ottawa was charged with operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding 80 milligrams.

The second collision took place the following day on March 19th shortly before 10:30 p.m on Joanisse Road in the City of Clarence-Rockland. No one was injured. However, when police went to investigate the incident, the vehicle’s driver was uncooperative with officers and was subsequently arrested. Danyka Lavoie, 25, from Ottawa was charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

Both motorists received a 90-day driver’s license suspension and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days. Lavoie and Dufresne will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
