New paper aims to become voice of South Grenville

BROCKVILLE — The South Grenville area is getting another print newspaper.

With the South Grenville Journal folding last December, Brockville-based Marshall Enterprises believes there’s a newsprint void to be filled in that region.

In a recent press release, the publisher — perhaps best known for Uncle Bucks News as well as another title — says it will debut the bi-weekly South Grenville Beacon on April 8th.

While the paper will focus on Prescott, Augusta, and Edwardsburg-Cardinal, the operator also envisions featuring some stories out of Iroquois, Brinston and the Brockville area.

“Our paper is the future of local news coverage for our communities and area with no link to the past publications before us,” says publisher Jon Vickers Marshall in the release. “We will chart our own path and history as the weeks and months ahead we become ‘The Voice of South Grenville’.”

The new Beacon says it has lined up over 45 retail outlets to carry the fledgling publication in its planned coverage area.
