Truck stolen from South Dundas recovered in Morrisburg by OPP

SOUTH DUNDAS — Provincial police from SD&G provided an update on the stolen pick-up truck, which was taken from a property on High Street in South Dundas sometime during the morning of April 5th or the evening of April 4th. Fortunately, the vehicle, a Maroon 2007 GMC Sierra, was recovered in a field west of Morrisburg on April 7th and was returned to the owners. Police are still investigating the theft.

OPP investigating break-in and vandalism at heritage building in St. Andrews

SOUTH STORMONT — On April 6th, shortly after 1:00 PM, officers from the provincial police responded to a call about a break-in at a local schools heritage building on County Road 18 in St. Andrews. Investigation revealed that an unknown individual had gained access to the building and caused extensive damage inside. An investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Police catch robbery in progress in Long Sault, leads to two arrests

SOUTH STORMONT — On April 7th, at around 6:18 PM, police arrived at a residence on Abigail Crescent in Long Sault, where a break-in was in progress. As they arrived, they intercepted an adult male who was allegedly exiting the building. A second adult male fled from the police but was later found by a canine unit. Police recovered a large quantity of stolen jewellery.

As a result, Tholfikar Kadhum, 24, from Ottawa was charged with:

  • Break and enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence CC Sec. 348(1)(b)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – cocaine
  • Possession break-in instrument
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Mischief Under $5000

James Houle, 42, also from Ottawa, was charged with:

  • Break and enter a place – with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession break-in instrument
  • Mischief Under $5000

Kadhum appeared in court on April 8th, while Houle is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 25th.

Family dispute leads to arrest

NORTH STORMONT — On April 6th, police attended the scene of a family dispute unfolding on Sabourin Street in North Stormont Township. Investigation revealed that an adult male had allegedly struck a family member.

A 58-year-old male from Clarence -Rockland was arrested and charged with assault. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 1st.

South Dundas man breaches release conditions

SOUTH DUNDAS — On April 8th, shortly after 9:00 AM, police officers responded to another report of a family dispute on Bay Street in South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult male was allegedly at the location in contravention to his previous release conditions.

A 26-year-old local man was arrested and is charged with two counts of failure to comply with the conditions of a release order. The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (April 9th).
