SD&G — Conservative MPP for Stormont–Dundas–South Glengarry Jim McDonell announced on Twitter this weekend that he tested positive for COVID-19 after experiencing symptoms similar to a cold earlier in the week. According to a press release, McDonell was infected within the first two weeks following his first vaccination, at which time the vaccine had not yet become effective.
“Public health has followed up with me to provide guidance and for contact tracing. I am currently following the necessary protocols and quarantine requirements. I share my experience as a caution to the more contagious variants and to the need to follow public health guidelines,” he said on Friday.
McDonell assured his constituents that he is only experiencing mild symptoms for the time being. At this time, it is unknown where or from whom McDonell contracted COVID-19.
