Police charge South Glengarry man with assault and harassment

SOUTH GLENGARRY — Reports of a domestic situation led officers to a property in South Glengarry Township on May 3rd, shortly before 7:00 PM. Upon arrival, police learned that an adult male accused had allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend multiple times in the previous months, made threats, and harassed the victim.

Subsequently, a 19-year-old male from South Glengarry was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault – three counts
  • Harassing Communications
  • Uttering threats
  • Forcible confinement
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person – two counts
  • Criminal harassment

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 20th.

Investigation ongoing into another stolen truck in SD&G

SOUTH STORMONT — Police are investigating yet another report about a stolen truck, this time from a property on Concession Road 21 in North Stormont Township. An initial investigation found that unknown individuals arrived on the property on May 5th, sometime before 1:00 p.m, and removed a black 2010 Ford Ranger pick-up truck with the license plate 1077TP attached.

Cornwall resident arrested for breaching release conditions

NORTH DUNDAS — On May 3rd, shortly before 10:00 AM, officers from the SD&G detachment of the provincial police received a report about a suspicious person at a residence on County Road 31 in North Dundas Township. The individual was allegedly contravening the conditions of a release order.

As a result, 33-year-old Jason Cummings from Cornwall was arrested and charged with five counts of failure to comply with a release order. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 4th.

Domestic situation results in arrest for local accused of assault

SOUTH GLENGARRY —  On May 3rd, at around midnight, police responded to a call about a domestic situation taking place at a residence in North Glengarry township. There, officers found an adult male, who had allegedly been accused of assaulting his spouse on multiple occasions.

The 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 22nd.
