OTTAWA — On Tuesday afternoon, the Ottawa Police Marine Unit and Ottawa Fire Services say they recovered the body of missing 24 year old Jesse Tessier, who accidentally fell into the rapids of Hog’s Back Falls on May 15th. Police from the Marine, Dive and Trails Unit, and the Paramedic Marine Unit began the search for Tessier the same day until May 19th, then again on May 24th, but to no avail. Fast moving waters were cited as a serious obstacle in the search.
Tessier’s body was discovered near Hog’s Back Falls by a passerby around mid-afternoon on Tuesday. The regional coroners officer later confirmed that the body found did indeed belong to the 24 year old. Police say they have already notified Tessier’s family.
“Our thoughts are with Jesse’s family and friends,” said a spokesperson for the Ottawa Police Service.
