Police seeking public assistance with recent homicide case in Leeds County

LEEDS — The Ontario Provincial Police are asking for assistance from the public, especially residents who live near Seeleys Bay, in relation to an ongoing homicide case. According to reports, a 44-year-old male was found deceased at a residence on Highway 15 on June 1st at around 4:30 AM.

36-year-old Jay Slade has been named in connection with the case and has been charged with:

  • First-degree murder
  • Indignity to a dead body
  • Two counts of Assault causing bodily harm

The accused was last observed on foot, May 31st, at approximately 8:20 AM on King Street in Delta. He is described as 175 cm (5’9″), 82 kg (180 pounds), medium build, with dark hair and a bushy beard. He was last seen wearing a blue hoody with a New England Patriots emblem, dark coloured sweat pants, and light coloured shoes. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS), the OPP Leeds County Crime Unit, and the East Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS).
