Ottawa Police Service opens animal abuse tip line following discovery of six dead cats in Nepean

OTTAWA — Ottawa Police Service investigators have established a tip line to gather information pertaining to the recent discovery of six dead cats in Nepean. The discoveries began in early June, specifically in the area bounded by Greenbank Road, Baseline Road, Merivale Road, and Hunt Club Road. Initial signs suggest the animals were abused and killed, though police report that part of the current investigation is ruling out that the deaths were caused by other animals, especially coyotes, which have been sighted on numerous occasions in the area.

Anyone with information about these investigations is asked to call the Tip-Line 613-236-1222, ext. 5760. Patrols have been increased and forensic officers have documented the deaths. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.
