One arrested and charged after drug raid in Chesterville

CHESTERVILLE — One person has been charged after police allegedly found illegal drugs while executing a search warrant in the village June 22.

Officers with the SD&G OPP Community Street Crime Unit, OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response team took part in the raid on the Main Street residence. According to the detachment, they seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, OxyContin tablets and cannabis. Canadian currency and items typically associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

Police say Sherrie Hunter, 61, of North Dundas was arrested at the scene. She’s charged with: Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine; Possession schedule I – other drugs; Possession of property Obtained by crime under $5,000; Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling.

The accused was released to appear Aug. 3 in Cornwall court.
