ST. ANDREWS WEST — The wife of former MP Guy Lauzon has died.
“On behalf of my family and all residents of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, I am saddened to learn of the passing of Frances Lauzon,” said Guy Lauzon’s Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry successor and protege, MP Eric Duncan, in a statement released yesterday.
Books of condolence have been set up at the the MP’s Cornwall constituency office (691C Brookdale Ave.), as well as the North Dundas Municipal Office (636 St. Lawrence Street, Winchester), and the South Dundas Municipal Office (34 Ottawa Street, Morrisburg.)
“Frances was a wonderful woman who will be sorely missed. She was always a kind and effective confidant to her loving husband Guy Lauzon,” said Duncan, who served as Guy Lauzon’s executive assistant for the better part of a decade.
“Whether it was her work as the well-loved Administrator at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge for years, or as a political spouse at community events, Frances’ warmth and smile made her an instant friend to many people.
“She will be missed dearly. She can rest well knowing her life of community service will be remembered fondly by many for years to come. Our thoughts are with Guy and their family during this difficult time.”
Frances Lauzon, 72, was a stalwart supporter of her husband, often appearing with him at many community events. She was at his side on each successful election night as Guy Lauzon captured and recaptured the riding for the Conservative party through the years. Each summer, the couple hosted a popular annual barbecue at their home in St. Andrews West; Frances would often sing a song at the microphone.
The books of condolence are available to sign Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
